The flow of money is under threat, with billions lost to fraud every year. Visa is leading the defence with a suite of AI-powered risk and security tools that adapt as quickly as threats evolve. For the Visa Payments Forum 2024 in Istanbul, the brand wanted to showcase these innovations in a dynamic way. Partnering again with Shiraz Creative, they challenged us to create an immersive experience that would engage, inform and attract attention.

The challenge

Visa’s security suite is highly complex – powerful AI-driven decision-making tools that assess risks in milliseconds between the tap of a card and the release of funds. The challenge was to demonstrate these capabilities in a way that was both engaging and easy to understand, within the fast-paced environment of a trade show stand. Visitors would only have a few minutes to interact with the content, often without guidance from a Visa representative. Adding to the complexity, we had just over a month to design and deliver a fully functioning immersive experience that could meet these ambitious demands.

The process

To fully understand the product suite and define the project direction, we held workshops with global stakeholders across Visa. These sessions helped identify the common theme uniting Visa’s security products: real-time control. Building on this, we designed a gamified tabletop augmented reality (AR) experience that allowed visitors to trigger and explore product information through interactive markers.

Centred around an animated holographic 3D globe displaying fraud alerts, users could select products, view case studies, and ‘activate’ solutions to prevent fraudulent transactions. With dynamic animations, multiple-choice challenges and tailored user pathways, the app delivered quick yet impactful engagement. Separate markers triggered location-specific content, creating a streamlined and spatial user experience.

The outcome

Built for use on iPads, the AR experience gave users a clear and engaging overview of Visa’s security innovations, while enabling deeper exploration of individual products. Integrated data capture and analytics allowed Visa to follow up on every lead generated at the event.

The activation drew strong attention at the stand, increasing footfall and delivering measurable engagement. Both Visa and Shiraz Creative praised the project for exceeding expectations, and discussions are already underway to adapt it for wider sales and marketing use.

As the finishing touch, we also supported Shiraz Creative with bespoke software powering projected content in a Projection Room – demonstrating the breadth of our digital expertise for large-scale activations, even under tight timelines.
